What is Health Coaching?
Health coaching is a collaborative, client-centered approach that helps people make lasting changes to improve their overall health and well-being. As a Health Coach, I work with clients to set goals, create personalized strategies, and support behavior change related to areas like:
Nutrition
Exercise
Stress management
Sleep
Chronic condition management (e.g., diabetes, hypertension)
Work-life balance or mental wellness
Key Features of Health Coaching:
Goal Setting
The coach helps clients identify specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART) goals based on their health aspirations.Behavior Change Support
Coaches use techniques like motivational interviewing, positive psychology, and habit formation to support sustainable change.Accountability
Regular check-ins help clients stay on track and adjust their strategies as needed.Empowerment Over Instruction
Health coaching is not about giving strict prescriptions or acting as a medical provider. Instead, it’s about empowering the client to take ownership of their health.Holistic Approach
Coaches look at the “whole person,” including lifestyle, values, mindset, and environmental factors.
1. Personalized Support
Health coaches tailor strategies to your unique lifestyle, preferences, and goals—no one-size-fits-all approach.
2. Sustainable Behavior Change
Rather than quick fixes, health coaches help you develop healthy habits that last through proven techniques like motivational interviewing, goal-setting, and self-reflection.
3. Accountability
Knowing someone is checking in keeps you motivated. Regular sessions provide structure and encouragement to stay on track.
4. Improved Health Outcomes
Studies show health coaching can improve:
Weight management
Blood pressure
Blood sugar control
Physical activity levels
Sleep quality
Stress levels
What are the benefits of Health Coaching?
5. Increased Self-Awareness
You become more conscious of your choices, thought patterns, and behaviors—leading to more mindful decision-making
6. Support in Managing Chronic Conditions
Health coaches can guide you in managing conditions like diabetes, heart disease, or hypertension by helping with medication adherence, diet, and lifestyle changes.
7. Mental and Emotional Wellness
By addressing stress, burnout, and emotional eating, coaching often leads to better mental resilience and overall well-being.
8. Empowerment
You’re in the driver’s seat. Coaches don’t tell you what to do—they help you discover what works best for you and build confidence in your ability to make changes.
9. Better Work-Life Balance
Coaches help you align health goals with your daily responsibilities, reducing overwhelm and promoting balance.
10. Non-Judgmental Support
Health coaches provide a safe, supportive space to explore goals, setbacks, and struggles without guilt or shame
My Coaching Philosophy
As a Health Coach, I’m guided by a few core principles that shape how I work with clients and support their journey toward lasting wellness:
1. You already have what you need.
You hold the keys to the change you want to create in your life. My role is to help you uncover your strengths, identify your own processes, and walk your unique path toward the life you envision.
2. You are the expert on you.
No one knows you better than you do. You understand what works for you—and what doesn’t. My job isn’t to tell you how to live or diagnose your experiences. It’s to listen, reflect, and support you in making choices that align with your values and goals.
3. We are a team.
Health coaching is a collaborative relationship—not a teacher-student or counselor-patient dynamic. We work side by side, as equals, to discover what works best for you and how to move forward effectively.
4. You are a whole person.
True wellness includes physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual health. These aspects of well-being are deeply connected and often inseparable. A holistic, inclusive approach allows us to understand health challenges more clearly and respond to them more effectively.
5. Sustainable wellness requires real change—not shortcuts.
Lasting health comes from meaningful lifestyle changes, not quick fixes. Transformation isn’t about crash diets, magic hacks, or temporary wins. Together, we’ll look beyond surface-level behaviors to explore the root causes of health concerns, plateaus, and resistance to change—so the progress you make is truly sustainable.
Who I am Professionally
Professionally, I’m a certified Health and Wellness Coach with a lifelong passion for helping people live healthier, more fulfilling lives.
My journey began during my undergraduate studies in Sport and Exercise Psychology, where I realized something important: elite athletes often have extensive support, but most everyday people don’t. At the same time, I became increasingly aware of rising obesity rates, soaring healthcare costs, and the fact that so many serious conditions are preventable. That’s when I knew I wanted to make a difference—not just in high-performance settings, but in real people’s lives.
After earning my M.S. in Educational Psychology with a focus on Wellness Psychology, I committed myself to a career in wellness. Over the years, I’ve been fortunate to work in a wide range of roles—from leading a non-profit organization focused on improving health literacy for elementary school students, to serving as a community health volunteer with the Peace Corps in Madagascar, to providing health coaching to patients in primary care facilities and to underserved workforces including electricians, teachers, law enforcement, and manufacturing employees.
I’ve loved each of these experiences, but I’ve also felt called to do more. That’s why I’ve developed my own health coaching programs—designed to be practical, personalized, and truly empowering. My goal is simple: to help people like you take charge of your health in a way that feels sustainable and supportive.
Who I am Personally
Personally, I’m Kevin Christopher Dahl.
A big part of who I am is rooted in how I work on improving my physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being. After all, we are all works in progress.
I love being outdoors and staying active—whether it’s hiking, running, or a casual game of frisbee. I’m part of a few running and social groups, but I also value my solo time, especially when I’m reading or getting lost in a good movie or TV series. I enjoy challenging myself in the kitchen (with varying degrees of success) and keep a year-round gardening habit that brings me a lot of joy.
I’ve always had a keen sense of smell, which naturally led to a love of fragrant, growing things—especially culinary herbs. My garden is filled with them for both their beauty and usefulness.
Spiritually, I recharge through walking meditation and time in nature. I’m lucky to have a wonderful, supportive family that keeps me grounded and keeps me laughing.
Thanks for taking the time to get to know a little about me. If you have any questions or just want to say hello, feel free to reach out via email—I’d love to hear from you.
